Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team split their season series with the Blossoms following a 52-41 loss at home on Valentine's Day to Arkansas-Monticello.
Former Mulerider
Jaida Harden led all scorers with 11 points on 3-6 shooting from the field.
As a team, the Muleriders only shot 32.6 percent from the field, and 22.2 percent from three-point range. After the first quarter, the Muleriders held a one-point lead; however, the Blossoms outscored the Muleriders 41-29 over the next three quarters to claim the victory and keep their hopes of postseason play alive.
Lena Maledon and
Ariana Guinn led the Muleriders in scoring with nine points. Maledon's came on 4-7 shooting while Guinn's was on 3-13 shooting. Guinn also grabbed two rebounds, threw two assists and dished out a game-high three assists.
Guard
Kylie Warren led the Muleriders' defensive effort, blocking two shots and grabbing a steal. The freshman also scored four points and grabbed four rebounds in a team-high 32 minutes on the floor.
Brette Wacha grabbed a team-high eight rebounds; the Texarkana native also scored five points, dished out two assists and recorded two steals.
The Muleriders are now 2-21 on the season, and 1-16 in conference play. They hit the road on Saturday as they travel up to Arkadelphia to take on Ouachita (6-17, 4-13).
