Fourth-quarter comeback falls short for Muleriders

Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team fell short at the hands of Southern Nazarene as the Muleriders' 20-point fourth-quarter was not enough to complete the comeback against the Crimson Storm.

Adrienne Berry led all scorers with 18 points as the Crimson Storm shot 60 percent from the field in the second quarter, which saw the Crimson Storm outscore the Muleriders 18-10.

The Muleriders outscored the Crimson Storm 33-22 in the second half, but it was not enough to get themselves out of their first half deficit.

Olivia McWilliams led the Muleriders in scoring with 12 points. The senior guard recorded a double double, grabbing ten rebounds, throwing a team-high four assists as well as grabbing two steals.

Alyssa Crase also scored 12 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor, also making both of her free throw attempts. The senior forward grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists in 21 minutes.

Erin Brinkley also scored in double digits, with 11 points, as the Tyler, Texas native was perfect in four attempts from the field and in three attempts from the line.

As a team, the Muleriders shot 42.9 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from three, as they also outrebounded the Crimson Storm 29-25.

The Muleriders fall to 2-25 on the season and 1-20 in conference play. They end their season this Saturday as they host Oklahoma Baptist.
