Crase, McWilliams leads Muleriders’ Senior Day stampede of Bison

Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team broke their 11-game losing streak on the penultimate day of the season with a dominant 73-58 victory over Oklahoma Baptist that marks the Muleriders' first win in six weeks, and their first win at home since November 2018.

Katy Custer led all scorers with 27 points on the night on 9-18 shooting; however, a combined 31 points from the rest of her teammates see the Bison lose their final game of the season.

On senior day here at the W. T. Watson Center, it was the Muleriders' two seniors – Alyssa Crase and Olivia McWilliams – that led the way for the Muleriders to claim only their third victory of the season in this game.

Crase led the team in scoring with 16 points on 7-10 shooting from the field, making both of her free throws as well. The senior forward grabbed eight rebounds and three steals in her 27 minutes on the court.

McWilliams scored 14 points on 5-11 shooting, making both of her three-point attempts and both of her free-throw attempts. McWilliams also grabbed four rebounds, dished out a team-high four assists and recorded two steals in 28 minutes.

As a team, the Muleriders shot 45.2 percent from the floor and held the Bison to 33.9 percent shooting. The Muleriders also outrebounded the Bison, outscored them in the paint and on turnovers, and the bench outscored the Bison bench 16-3.

The Muleriders also made all ten of their free throws on the night, and shot 34.6 percent from three.

Ariana Guinn also scored in double digits, scoring 12 points on 5-7 shooting from the floor. The freshman guard also recorded three steals in 20 minutes on the floor.

The Muleriders outscored the Bison 53-38 after ending the first quarter tied at 20 apiece, including holding the Bison to only seven points in the second quarter.

The Muleriders end their season with a 3-25 record and a 2-20 record in conference play.
