MAGNOLIA, Ark. – It was a tough night for the Southern Arkansas Men's Basketball team on Thursday night inside the W.T. Watson Center as the Muleriders suffered a 75-59 loss to #10/14 Southern Nazarene in Great American Conference action. It was the fourth straight loss for SAU and the first defeat on their home court since February 10, 2018 as the Muleriders had won 14-straight games in Magnolia.
SAU (18-9, 13-8 GAC) outrebounded the Crimson Storm 36-28 and matched their opposition in paint scoring with 28 points each. Southern Nazarene, however, turned 15 Mulerider turnovers into 23 points, while SAU scored just five points off of SNU's six turnovers.
The nationally-ranked Crimson Storm answered an old-fashioned three-point play from SAU's
DeVante Brooks with a dunk from RJ Palmer and a layup from Noah Starkey and Southern Nazarene would not trail for the remaining 37:24 of game play.
Brooks finished with ten points as did
CJ Elkins. Both players recorded five rebounds.
Wesley Nosakhare added nine points, while
Jalen Brooks and
Aaron Lucas followed with seven points apiece. J. Brooks led with ten rebounds and Lucas notched four assists.
Southern Arkansas closes out the regular season on Saturday, March 2 inside the W.T. Watson Center as the Muleriders welcome in Oklahoma Baptist. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. and will serve as Senior Day with the four SAU seniors:
Draylan Perkins,
CJ Elkins,
Snyder Cenecharles and
Wesley Nosakhare being honored following the women's game. Live coverage links are available at
