MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The season of first continues for the newest athletic programs on the Southern Arkansas University campus as the Mulerider Men's and Women's Tennis teams are set for their home opener Tuesday afternoon in Magnolia. It will mark the first collegiate tennis event in Magnolia in seven years as both programs were revitalized for NCAA Division II play in November of 2017.
SAU welcomes UT-Tyler to Magnolia for a 3 p.m. start time. It will be the first action at the newly-renovated Live Oaks Tennis Courts. Both the Southern Arkansas Men and Women are off to productive starts to their respective 2019 campaigns as each team enters the home opener at 4-2 overall.
The SAU Women have notched victories over Spring Hill College, Christian Brothers, West Georgia and Texas-Permian Basin, while the SAU Men have garnered wins against Spring Hill College, Christian Brothers, Rhodes College, and then-#25 Washburn; the first win over top 25 competition in the program's short DII history.
Additionally, the Southern Arkansas Men
most recently received votes in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)/Oracle Top 25.
