Arkadelphia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak at the hands of Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, winning a 73-58 contest on the road that saw a 26-13 second quarter for the Muleriders be the difference on the day.
The Muleriders shot 60 percent from the field in the second quarter, as well as going 3-5 from three-point range and 5-5 from the free throw line, and only held the Tigers to four makes on eight attempts from the field in the second frame.
For the game, the Muleriders shot over 50 percent from the floor, their highest number of the season.
Of the 15 players that saw the floor, 13 scored for the Muleriders, with only two players –
Kisi Young and
Ariana Guinn – scoring more than ten points.
This marks the first win over the Tigers since January 21, 2017 and their first win in Bill Vining Arena since January 23, 2016. The two conference wins for the Muleriders matches their total from last season – and the 6-1 start matches that of the 2015-16 season.
The Muleriders are now 6-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. They return to action next Saturday inside the W. T. Watson Center as they host Arkansas Tech.
