MAGNOLIA – The SAU Women's Basketball team got back to their winning ways today inside the W. T. Watson Center, dominating Rogers State 74-49 in non-conference play.
The Muleriders outrebounded the visitors 54-33 as they only shot 29.3 percent from the field. The Muleriders shot 43.7 percent from the field, including 36 percent from three as they led the contest wire to wire.
Kisi Young led all scorers with 12 points, shooting 6-8 from the field. The Magnolia native grabbed six rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench.
Erin Brinkley was the other Mulerider to score in double digits with 10 points. The senior made a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter to help the Muleriders to a 20-11 first quarter lead.
Alyssa Crase led all players with nine rebounds, in addition to nine points on 4-6 shooting. The Greenwood native grabbed a game-high six offensive rebounds as well.
Tearra Cook put up nine points and seven rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench, and
Tamera Shaver tallied nine points and five rebounds in a team-high 20 minutes on the floor.
Braydyn Hill led all players with four steals; the freshman scored eight points and assisted three times as the Muleriders forced 26 turnovers, and recorded 17 steals.
The Muleriders' 54 rebounds marks a season-high, besting their previous high of 52 against Lincoln on the season's opening day. Their 9-25 mark from three is identical to their season best against Missouri S&T, and their five blocks mark a season best.
The Muleriders improve to 7-2 on the season. They close out the calendar year with a non-conference matchup on Thursday in Texarkana against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
