SAU Volleyball snaps losing streak behind dominant performance at East Central

Schuster records career-high 51 assists

Ada, Okla. – The SAU Volleyball team, who entered today's contest at East Central as the conference's only winless team in GAC play and in the midst of a 15-game losing streak, broke out with an emphatic performance inside the Kerr Activities Center.

The back-and-forth affair in set one saw the hosts take the set as the Muleriders only hit .088 for the set.

Set two saw the Muleriders get into a groove offensively, hitting .542 as a team, only committing two attacking errors as they won 25-15.

Sets three and four saw the visitors hit .381 and .367, including 22 kills in set three. For the match, the Muleriders out-killed the Tigers 63-37 and out-dig the hosts 55-39.

Seven Powers once again led the Muleriders in kills with 15; however, four teammates join her in recording double-digit kills.

Morgan Gross (13), Lauren Smith (11), Ciarra Tolley (11) and Abby Bermudez (10) buried ten or more kills as the Muleriders hit .331 as a team on the day.

Powers and Gross recorded double-doubles; Powers went 15 kills and 16 digs while Gross went 13 and 12 with all five of the Mulerider's service aces, including three in a row in set two to help put the Muleriders in the ascendency.

Bermudez led the team with five blocks and a .588 attack percentage; Powers, Smith and Morgan Schuster all recorded three blocks.

In addition to her three blocks, Schuster buried three kills and assisted a career-high 51 times.

The six Muleriders who recorded kills (Powers, Gross, Smith, Tolley, Bermudez and Schuster) all hit over .200 on the day.

The Muleriders are back in action on Halloween as they host Harding.
