Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Volleyball team hosted Henderson State tonight in the W. T. Watson Center, taking set one off the visitors 25-19 and holding a 20-15 lead in set two before the Reddies went on a 10-2 run to take the set from the hosts.
The Muleriders outhit the Reddies .114 to .027 in set one and .279 to .268 in set two before being outhit .371 to .237 and .021 to -.075.
The Muleriders racked up more points on the night, 66.0 to 65.0, as well as edging the Reddies in aces (seven to six), blocks (ten to seven) and tying in assists (46 each).
Seven Powers led the Muleriders' attacking efforts, with 15 kills and a .184 hitting percentage. Junior
Morgan Gross was the other Mulerider with double-digit kills with 10. Both Powers and Gross assisted in two blocks as well.
Abby Bermudez put up seven kills and seven assisted blocks, and
Bailey Kirk reached ten or digs for the first time in her young collegiate career with 12.
Freshman
Morgan Schuster recorded a game-high 43 assists as well as 12 digs. This is the fifth game this season the Arlington, Texas native has posted a double-double.
Libero
Alana Perez established a new single-game career-high in digs, with 24. The junior has nearly doubled her career dig totals this season alone, with 208 digs this season to go along with 279 digs in her previous two seasons in Magnolia.
The Muleriders are back in action this Thursday in Searcy to take on Harding.
