Powers, Smith lead Muleriders to 3-1 victory on the road at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – Junior outside hitter Seven Powers produced a season-high 15 kills and sophomore middle hitter Lauren Smith delivered the first double-double of her career with 11 kills and ten digs to lead Southern Arkansas to a 3-1 road win over Hendrix College on Garrison Court inside Grove Gymnasium in Conway, Arkansas.

The Muleriders (6-11) have won three out of their past four matches and Tuesday night's win snapped a seven-match win streak by the Warriors, who dropped just their second match of the season.

SAU started off hot hitting .342 behind 17 kills to take a 25-21 set one win. In the second set, Southern Arkansas cooled off offensively, but the defensive remained solid as they forced nine errors and the Warriors to hit .058 to take a two set advantage.

Hendrix took the third set 25-21 as the Muleriders committed nine errors in a .111 attack effort, but Southern Arkansas would take the fourth set behind an 8-1 run that closed out the match.
