RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The Lady Mulerider softball team split the final GAC doubleheader with No. 21 Arkansas Tech after taking game three, 5-1, and dropping the series finale by a final decision of 2-0 on Saturday, but won took the overall series over the Golden Suns, 3-1.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS
- ATU got on the board first in the opening frame with a 1-0 lead and held off the Lady Mulerider offense from scoring until the fourth inning when SAU would take the lead, 2-1 after three base-hits loaded the bases to lead off the frame.
- Megan Godoyo plated the first run as she put a ball in play that scored Otts and tied the game at 1-all, and Sarah Pitre would plate the go-ahead immediately after on an RBI single to second base, 2-1.
- SAU added some insurance runs in the top of the fifth, and again in the top of the seventh, courtesy of an RBI single by Otts followed up with an RBI triple from Duran that made it 4-1 in the fifth, then an RBI single to left field off the bat of Jill Roye in the seventh to extend it out to its eventual 5-1 final decision.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS
- In the top of the first, ATU hit a solo homer to open the game and take the early advantage over SAU, 1-0
- Southern Arkansas' offense struggled at the plate in the series finale as Tech's starting pitcher Kristen Dempsey held the Lady Muleriders to just one hit through five innings and, in relief, Shaffer closed out the game allowing just two hits to combine for a shutout against SAU as the Golden Suns added another run in the sixth inning to salvage the split 2-1.
- Jolie Trahan got the start in the circle for SAU and, despite suffering the loss, pitched a fairly well game allowing just two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and did not give up any walks.
