DURANT, Okla. – The Lady Mulerider softball team combined for 13 runs on 17 hits with 11 total walks in Friday's doubleheader that resulted in an 8-2 victory in the series opener, followed by a 5-8 loss in game two that allowed Southeastern Oklahoma to salvage the split on day one of the 4-game GAC series.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS
- Southern Arkansas scored early and often taking a quick 7-0 lead over Southeastern Oklahoma through the first three innings of play
- SAU loaded the bases in the first inning and senior Jill Roye came through in the inning and delivered a two-out base hit to left field that plated the first two runs of the game
- Senior Megan Godoyo singled immediately after Roye in the frame and plated another run that prompted a 3-0 advantage for SAU in the opening frame
- The Lady Muleriders engineered another 3-run inning in the second led by a 2-run shot out to left field from Rachel Miller and a solo dinger to right-center field right after off the bat of senior Monica Islava that extended the lead out to 6-0
- Islava plated another run for SAU in the following inning on a sacrifice fly that scored Sarah Pitre who led-off the inning with a walk and brought the score to 7-0
- Southeastern was hitless until the third inning, and would not score a run until the bottom of the fifth, where they would cut the deficit to 7-1, and eventually added another run in the next inning to make it 7-2, but the Lady Muleriders continued to chip away plating another run in the top of the seventh and held the Savage Storm to an 8-2 final decision
AT THE PLATE
- SAU combined for 8 runs on 11 hits and walked six times
- Miller, Islava, and Roye led the offense with a pair of RBIs apiece
- Roye, Godoyo, and Goad were the only players that registered more than one hit in the game
- Goad and Godoyo each tallied one RBI

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS & HAPPENINGS
- SAU scored the first pair of runs to open the game in the top of the first inning on an RBI single by Faith Otts followed by an RBI double off the bat of Jill Roye that prompted a 2-0 lead for the Lady Muleriders, but Southeastern Oklahoma proceeded to get both of those runs back plus two more in the bottom of that frame to take the lead from SAU, 4-2
- Freshman Sarah Pitre would bring SAU within one in the next inning after she led off with a solo home run to left field, but the Savage Storm again got that run back in the bottom-half that brought the score to 5-3, SOSU
- Roye blasted a solo shot following that inning to again bring SAU one run shy of Southeastern and, in the top of the fourth, Brooke Goad knotted the score at 5-all after she left the yard out in right-center field
- The Savage Storm proceeded to plate three runs on six hits over the next two innings to pull away with the lead over Southern Arkansas and salvage the split at an eventual 8-5 final decision
AT THE PLATE
- Roye led SAU with two RBIs and was 2-for-4 at the plate, both of those hits going for extra bases, with a run scored
- Goad, Otts, and Pitre each tallied an RBI
- Pitre was the only other Lady Mulerider to record two or more hits in the game
