- Taylor remained efficient before giving up a pair of runs in the fifth on a 2-RBI triple to right-center that make it 6-2, but SAU's offense would have her back in the next inning as they got those runs back, plus one, to extended the lead out to its eventual 9-3.

- Neither team scored until the third inning when Southern Arkansas put up three runs on a pair of hits to take a 3-0 advantage over ATU.

- The Lady Muleriders' starting pitcher Jolie Trahan was strong in the circle as she went the distance and struck out six to hold the Golden Suns at one in the game.
- ATU stranded a total of seven base runners before finally scratching a run in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly, but that would not be enough to salvage the split as the Lady Muleriders took the final decision at 8-1.
