Searcy, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team dropped their road conference opener today in Searcy against Harding, who sit atop the GAC standings following the conclusion of the first weekend of conference play.
The Muleriders were ultimately undone by a second quarter that saw the Bisons outscore the Muleriders 28-5, including a 9-0 scoring run and a 10-0 scoring run by the Bisons.
Redshirt sophomore
Brette Wacha led all scorers on the night, scoring 18 points on 6-9 shooting from the floor, including 4-6 from behind the arc and making both of her free throws. Wacha also added a team-high six rebounds in 31 minutes of game time. Junior guard
Lena Maledon also grabbed six rebounds on the night, and added two points and one assist.
Freshman guard
Camryn Fennell was the other Mulerider in double-digit scoring, with 13 points as well as a team-high three assists.
The Muleriders return to action next weekend as they host Ouachita on Saturday, December 8
th at the W. T. Watson Center.
