Magnolia, Ark. – The SAU Women's Basketball team lost their season opener Friday in a 64-55 game against a tough Lincoln University of Missouri side that jumped out to a 25-17 and kept the Muleriders at arm's length the rest of the game.
From the second quarter through the end of the game, the Muleriders were only outscored by a solitary point.
Redshirt sophomore
Brette Wacha led the Muleriders in scoring, netting 12 points on 4-9 shooting, including 2-4 from behind the arc. Wacha also added in three rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
Lincoln point guard Zoi Thompson led all scorers on the night, scoring 18 points on 7-16 shooting. Thompson, in 36 minutes, grabbed five rebounds and five assists.
Senior
Alyssa Crase, in her Mulerider debut, led all players with eight rebounds on the night. The Connors State transfer also chipped in two assists in 16 minutes on the floor tonight.
The Muleriders return to action tomorrow in the GAC/MIAA crossover as they take on Lindenwood, fresh off a victory over Arkansas-Monticello, to close off the crossover at 3 p.m.
Arkansas-Monticello and Lincoln will play tomorrow at 1 p.m.
