HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the bottom of the second inning, SAU scratched the first run of the game and took the early lead as Faith Otts doubled home Marina Duran with two outs, who previously drew a walk, 1-0 SAU.
  • Harding matched SAU in the next inning after a lead-off walk eventually turned into a run as Payton Mills singled down the third base line to tie the game at 1-all.
  • In the bottom of the frame, Monica Islava drove the first pitch she saw over the centerfield wall to plate the go-ahead run, 2-1 SAU.
  • The Lady Muleriders were able to hold off the Harding offense until the seventh and with the Lady Bisons down to their final three outs, they were able to draw three consecutive walks to load the bases. A hit-by-pitch forced the tying run to score for HU and a walk to Alexis Lawellin plated the go-ahead run. A pair of RBI singles encouraged a 5-3 advantage before Harding was able to score later on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly to make it 7-2.
  • SAU was able to draw a pair of walks in the bottom of the seventh to rally, but ended up with the 7-2 loss.
