HOW IT HAPPENED – Game 1
- Both teams were hitless through the first two innings of play, before Oklahoma Baptist's Brett Berghammer collected the game's first RBI with a sacrifice fly to put the Bison up 1-0.
- That lead would hold until the home half of the seventh inning as a well-placed bunt by Cory Gallegos resulted in an RBI-single that plated Trevor Rucker, who earlier in the inning reached on a fielder's choice.
- In the 8th through the 12th innings, Southern Arkansas stranded nine runners on the base paths, including a bases loaded opportunity in the ninth inning, while Oklahoma Baptist left four runners stranded during the same span.
- With two outs and a runner at second in the top of the 12th inning, Berghammer followed through with an RBI-single into the right centerfield gap that gave the Bison a short-lived 2-1 lead.
- In the bottom half of the inning, Josey Langston led off with a single up the middle and was promptly moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Michael Page.
- Blake Hall followed with an infield single to put runners at the corners for Rucker who singled up the middle, scoring Langston and tying the game at two runs apiece.
- In the 13th inning, the Muleriders found the win column as Jacob Richardson blasted a solo homerun to lead off the frame and give SAU a 3-2 series-opening win over Oklahoma Baptist, preseason favorites in the GAC.
ON THE MOUND – Game 1
- SAU's Connor Wells and OKB's Jinny Parra starred in a good ole fashion pitcher's duel on Friday afternoon as the staff aces each went eight strong innings and allowed just a single run apiece.
- Wells surrendered just two hits and walked five, while Parra allowed four hits and three walks. The duo combined for 11 strikeouts.
- Wells benefitted from the masterful work of Page and Langston up the middle as the pair turned two inning-ending double-plays, while Page engineered a 63 GDP as well to help the cause defensively.
- New arms took over for each club in the ninth as SAU's Makenzy Larsen and OKB's Tyler Gibson entered for their respective starters and each picked up where the aces left off.
- Larsen tossed five innings of three-hit baseball, allowing a single run, while collecting six strikeouts to just one walk as he picked up his first win of the season.
- Gibson surrendered six hits in four innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED – Game 2
- Rucker opened scoring in game two by lacing a one-out solo homerun off of the Wilkins Stadium concession stand in the third inning to stake Mulerider starter Dalton Algiene to a 1-0 lead. Back-to-back doubles by Mark Fontenot and James Trevanion scored the former as SAU led 2-0 through three innings.
- In the fifth inning, Richardson singled home Rucker to add a run to the 2-0 lead, before Rucker got into the scoring mix again in the sixth inning.
- Leading 3-0, a one-out single from Blake Hall quickly led to the freshman swiping second base, before being plated on Rucker's second double of the game. Rucker took third on a steal and scored on a passed ball to put SAU up 5-0.
- The Bison were finally able to crack a dominant Algiene as they plated a single run in the seventh on a two-out single by Kevin Olmeda.
ON THE MOUND – Game 2
- Algiene was stellar as he struck out a dozen batters, allowed four walks and a single earned run to claim his fourth win of the season.
- Algiene owned a one-hitter through six innings on the mound, before OKB scratched the late run in the seventh as part of a three-hit inning.
- OKB starter Zach Fowler entered the contest with a 0.45 ERA in 20 innings of work, but gave up three earned runs on five hits with five walks, while striking out seven.
AT THE PLATE – Game 2
