MAGNOLIA, Ark. – the Lady Mulerider softball team split Sunday's doubleheader with Northwestern Oklahoma in a pair of closely contested games. Game one's loss for SAU ended with a final score of 2-1 following a 3-1 final score in game two that allowed the Lady Muleriders to salvage the series split.

HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 1
- A pair of lights-out pitching performances in the circle from both teams turned into a rubber match as NWOSU strung together a few timely hits that allowed them to stay in the lead for majority of the game.
- Vital defense in the top and bottom of the first inning stranded five base runners combined for both offenses. SAU had the bases loaded twice in the first and second innings, but couldn't push across any runs as NWOSU plated a run in the top of the second on an RBI double.
- The Lady Rangers tallied another run in the top of the seventh that started with a lead-off double, sacrifice bunt, and an RBI single.
- With two outs in the bottom of that frame, Marina Duran blasted a solo shot to left field that cut SAU's deficit in half. A single from Jill Roye and a walk to Tyler Casada placed both the tying and winning runs on the base paths before a rocketed line-out to centerfield off the bat of Megan Godoyo ended the game with a 2-1 final score and a win for Northwestern Oklahoma.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Starting pitcher, Taylor, was able to get out of a few jams in her six-innings pitched striking out five batters.
- Taylor gave up both of NWOSU's runs on seven hits.
AT THE PLATE
- SAU matched their opponent's eight hits but could only scratch one run.
- Duran accounted for the lone RBI in the game on a homerun.
- Roye was 3-for-4 at the plate.
- Casada had a 2-for-3 performance at the dish.
- Rachel Miller and Dow each had a hit.

HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 2
- SAU's three runs came on a pair of homeruns in the game.
- The first of those homers came in the second inning after Monica Islava belted a 2-run bomb to left field that put SAU on the board early, 2-0.
- The Lady Rangers answered in the top of the fourth with an RBI single that brought them just one run shy of SAU.
- In the fifth inning, Maddie Dow smashed her fifth homerun against the Lady Rangers in her career that cushioned SAU's lead to 3-1, ultimately becoming the last runs for the Lady Muleriders.
- SAU held the Lady Rangers hitless in the following two innings to salvage the split with a 3-1 final score.
IN THE CIRCLE
- Garner picked up her 12th win on the year in the circle for SAU after allowing only one run on four hits in 5.2 innings pitched.
- Of the 22 batters Garner faced, she struck out three and did not allow any free bases.
- Roye recorded the save in the circle as she pitched 1.1 innings and did not allow any hits or free bases.
AT THE PLATE
- SAU out-hit their opponent 7-4.
- Both teams combined stranded 13 runners.
- Islava led the offense with a pair of RBI's on a homerun.
- Dow recorded the other RBI on a homerun with a pair of hits.
- Taylor Stricklin, Roye, Godoyo, and Miller each collected a hit in the game.

- The Lady Muleriders continue their 10-game home stand with a 4-game series next weekend against GAC opponent Ouachita Baptist. The first doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday.
