Southern Arkansas Lady Muleriders: 26-4, 16-2 GAC
Northwestern Oklahoma Lady Rangers: 8-22, 6-12 GAC

PITCHING DECISIONS- GAME 1
W: Victoria Taylor (13-1)
L: Madison Garza (3-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 1
  • Effective defense from both teams held a scoreless game for the first four innings before the Lady Muleriders scratched a run in the bottom of the fifth on a batted ball from Tyler Casada that plated Marina Duran.
  • The Lady Rangers unable to answer back, SAU capitalized in the next inning with six runs on five hits.
  • SAU's explosive sixth inning was jump-started with three singles from Megan Godoyo, Rachel Miller, and Yulissa Hinojosa. Hinojosa's shot through the right side plated SAU's first run of that inning. Miller accounted for the second run of that inning after she crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
  • Maddie Dow's 5-pitch walk placed runners on the corners for SAU before Duran drove in one of those runs to extend the lead out to 4-0, SAU.
  • A batter later, a three-run bomb to right field from Jill Roye gave the Lady Muleriders all the runs they needed to take the 7-0 victory over NWOSU in game one.

IN THE CIRCLE
  • Starting pitcher, Victoria Taylor, picked up her 13th win in the circle after pitching a seven-inning shutout and allowing only two hits.
  • Taylor didn't issue any free passes and struck out four batters.
  • This was her third career shutout at SAU.

AT THE PLATE
  • SAU combined for seven runs on seven hits in the game.
  • Roye led the SAU offense with three RBI's in the game on a homerun with a run scored.
  • Duran, Casada, and Hinojosa each collected an RBI.
  • Godoyo and Miller were both 2-for-3 at the dish with a run scored.
  • Dow and Duran each had a pair of walks.

PITCHING DECISIONS- GAME 2
W: Karly Murray (5-10)
L: Jill Roye (2-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED- GAME 2
  • Another scoreless game through the first four innings made a turn-around in the Lady Mulerider's favor after a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dow put a run on the board for SAU in the bottom of the fifth.
  • Starting pitcher, Kaylee Garner, shut-out the Lady Rangers throughout five innings allowing just five hits.
  • In the top of the sixth, a lead-off walk to NWOSU's Madison McGraw stemmed a pitching change for SAU. Pitching relief, Roye, retired the next two batters she faced before a 2-out RBI single to left field made it a tie-game.
  • In that same frame, the Lady Rangers scored their second run on a wild pitch that allowed them to establish the 2-1 lead.
  • SAU's offense went quiet through the next two innings, ultimately suffering the loss to NWOSU.

IN THE CIRCLE
  • Roye suffered the loss in the circle for SAU after giving up a pair of runs on a hit in two innings pitched.
  • Garner threw a shutout in all five innings she pitched while striking out three.

AT THE PLATE

  • SAU's only run of the game was off the bat of Dow.
