HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Muleriders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first thanks to a two-out, two-run home run to left-centerfield off the bat of Jacob Richardson. The Buccaneers answered back with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1, SAU. CBU then struck for three runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-2 lead.
  • RBI singles from Cory Gallegos and Michael Page in the top of the fourth however knotted the game at four-all.
  • In the top of the fifth, the Muleriders quickly loaded the bases with no outs thanks to singles from Trevor Rucker, Mark Fontenot, and Jacob Richardson. Those base knocks set the table for Jake Tisevich as he belted a grand slam out to centerfield, breaking that four-all tie.
  • The Bucs got two of those runs back in the bottom of the sixth to cut the four-run deficit in half, 8-6.
  • SAU responded in their next at-bats and opened the game up with a five-run seventh inning to make it 13-6, Muleriders. In that inning, SAU got two-RBI singles from Page and Sam Mrstik while Fontenot's RBI single accounted for the fifth run.
  • CBU scored a run in the bottom half to make it 13-7, but the Muleriders added two runs of insurance in the top of the ninth, bringing the score to 15-7, SAU.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, the Buccaneers made things interesting scoring five runs on three hits, but ultimately the Muleriders staved off the rally, earning a 15-12 win.

ON THE MOUND
  • A total of six pitchers were used against the Buccaneers.
  • Eric Schildt saw the longest work load going 3.0 perfect innings as he did not allow a single base runner. Schildt's unblemished outing earned him his first victory of the season.
  • Makenzy Larsen was the last pitcher in the game and he earned his second save of the season after getting the final two outs of the game to fend off the comeback attempt by CBU.

AT THE PLATE
  • The Muleriders scored 15 runs and racked up 17 hits against Christian Brothers. The runs and hits are the second-most in a game this season for SAU. It is also the ninth time this year that the Muleriders have totaled double-digit runs and hits in the same game.
  • Six Muleriders had multiple hits in the game with Jacob Richardson and Jake Tisevich accounting for the most with three each. Mark Fontenot, Cory Gallegos, Cortland McPherson and Michael Page all had a pair of hits.
  • Four players registered multiple RBIs with Tisevich's four on the grand slam leading the team. Richardson and Page were one off that total with three RBIs and Sam Mrstik added a pair of RBIs as well.
