Leading Off
The Southern Arkansas baseball team returns home for a three-game Great American Conference series against Southwestern Oklahoma. SAU will be looking to continue the roll they have been on, winning eight-straight and 10 of 11.

Statistically into the weekend, the Muleriders are hitting .321 as a team and have a 3.81 team ERA. Through 21 games, the Muleriders have scored 169 runs offensively while the pitching staff lays claim to three shutouts.

Individually, the Muleriders have five players hitting over .350 with Mark Fontenot leading the club at .435. Trevor Rucker is next in hitting at .405 and junior transfer Cortland McPherson is at .380. Redshirt freshman Blake Hall is hitting .378 from the
leadoff spot and junior third baseman JacobRichardson is the fifth batter over .350 at  .361. Rucker leads the team in home runs with seven and five Muleriders have collected 16 or more RBIs as well.

On the mound, Dalton Algiene (5-1) leads the team in wins with five while also sporting the lowest ERA among starters at 0.97. Additionally, Algiene has contributed to all three of SAU's shutouts while also leading the team in strikeouts with 48 in 37.0 innings pitched.

For Southwestern Oklahoma, the Bulldogs are hitting .240 as a team with 35 doubles, seven triples, 13 home runs, and 115 runs scored. On the mound, the Bulldogs have a 6.49 team ERA and have struck out 126 opposing batters while issuing 73 bases on balls.

The leading hitter is Jason Nichols at .342. The top run producer with 16 RBIs is Rafael Otero. Otero also leads the team in home runs with five. Gunnar Cook has the lowest ERA among starters at 5.06 and his 31 strikeouts lead the team as well.
