Leading Off
The Southern Arkansas baseball team is set to play in front of its home crowd for the first time this season as they welcome in East Central for a three-game Great American Conference series. The series is the beginning of an eight-game home stand
that will see Texas A&M-Texarkana and LSU-Shreveport come in for non-conference play and Oklahoma Baptist for a GAC series as well.

Heading into the weekend, the Muleriders are hitting .289 as a team and have a 4.34 team ERA. Through the first 10 games, the Muleriders have scored 61 runs offensively while the pitching staff already lays claim to a combined shutout.

Individually, the Muleriders have two players hitting over .350 with Trevor Rucker leading the club at .417. Newcomer Mark Fontenot is next in hitting at .393, and he and Rucker are tied for the team lead in homeruns with three.

On the mound, Dalton Algiene and Kenneth Tabor lead the team in wins with two each. Jacob Stroder and Hunter Vasquez have accounted for the other Mulerider victories while Eric Schildt has the lone save to this point. Algiene leads the team in strikeouts with 20 and he also has the lowest ERA among pitchers with at least 10 innings pitched at 1.69.

For East Central, they are hitting .252 as a team with 17 doubles, a triple, seven homeruns, and 40 runs scored. On the mound, they have a 4.98 team ERA and have struck out 67 opposing batters while issuing 40 bases on balls.
