MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Lady Mulerider Basketball team rallied back from a nine-point deficit in the second quarter as they outscored the Savage Storm, 16-11, to sit just three points shy of Southeastern at the intermission, 33-36. In that quarter's final 40 seconds of action, Ramiah Henry tallied all four of SAU's final points to represent the only Lady Mulerider with double scoring digits at the half with 13 total.
Henry stayed hot in the second half as she used the first twelve seconds of play in the third quarter to bank a three-point shot that tied the score at 36-all. The Savage Storm immediately answered with a jumper to regain the lead, 38-36, and Henry would tie the game once more with a layup to tally her fifth point in the first minute of action in the second half.
The Lady Muleriders tied the score three additional times later in the third quarter as Erin Brinkley connected with a jump shot with 1:49 left on the play clock that accounted for the quarter's final knotted score at 49-all before Southeastern made a 7-0 run to lead 56-49 going into the fourth.
The Savage Storm carried the momentum into the final 10 minutes of action as they scored a game-high 29 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from SAU and ultimately claim the victory, 85-64.
OF NOTE
- Henry, Brinkley and Villarreal each recorded new career highs in points and represented the only Lady Muleriders with double digit points in the game as Henry led SAU with 20 points, Brinkley followed with 14, and Villarreal tallied 12.
- Defensively, SAU had nine total steals and influenced 13 opponent turnovers that resulted in 18 of its 64 points in the game.
