- With just under four minutes to play in the first half, SOSU's Markell Henderson drove inside for a high-percentage bucket and converted the resulting foul line attempt to briefly build the Savage Storm advantage back to six, 29-23.
- At the 2:14 mark, Quinton Gillette made good on a pair of shots from the charity stripe as the deficit was cut back to four and moments after the Savage Storm pushed their advantage back to six, Gillette drained a three-pointer right in front of the first half horn as the Muleriders trailed 31-28 at the intermission.
