Balanced, energetic effort sends Muleriders past Crowley’s Ridge College, 108-59

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Mulerider Basketball team employed a balanced, energetic effort on Saturday afternoon inside the W.T. Watson Center and eclipsed the century-mark in scoring for the second time this season with a 108-59 dispatching of Crowley's Ridge College in the home team's final contest before the Christmas break.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Eleven Muleriders saw ten or minutes of playing time on Saturday afternoon with freshman Aaron Lucas leading the way with a team-high 28 minutes off of the bench. Four additional rookies recorded 14-plus minutes on the court: Charlie Thomas (21), DeVante Brooks (18), Gabe Gilliam (17), and Trey Davis (14).
  • Keeton Tennison didn't miss in the win as he hit all four of his three-point attempts to finish with a team-high 18 points on a collective 6-of-6 shooting, while also making both free throw attempts in his only trip to the line.
  • Lucas followed with 14 points and Gilliam dropped a dozen as the freshman duo shot a combined 10-of-19 from the field.
  • Brooks grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
  • The Southern Arkansas bench collected 63 of the team's 108 points and the Muleriders scored 42 points off of 32 CRC turnovers. The 32 turnovers by the visitors are the most forced by SAU this season. The Pioneers scored just seven points off of 21 Mulerider turnovers.
  • It is the second time this season that the Muleriders have eclipsed the century mark in scoring after dropping 119 points in a win over Baptist Bible in late November. The 43 field goals made, 71 field goals attempted, and 60.6% shooting clip are all the second-highest such marks for Southern Arkansas this season.
  • The Muleriders knocked down 15 of their 30 three-point tries in the win which stands as season-high marks in trifectas made (15), attempted (30) and three-point shooting percentage (.500).
  • SAU also set team season-high marks in assists (24), steals (18), and blocked shots (8). Thomas registered a career-high four blocks, Perkins and Gillette each recorded four assists, while Lucas and Davis picked up four steals apiece.
  • It was the third time this season that the Muleriders held their opponent under 60 points.
  • The largest SAU lead stood at 50 with 2:20 to play in a game that did not feature a tied score or any lead changes.
