BETHANY, Okla. – Trailing the entire first half, the Lady Mulerider Basketball team scored the first seven points after the intermission to take the lead from Southern Nazarene in the third quarter, but the Crimson Storm benefited from a late 9-0 run that proved to be the difference in the game to reclaim the lead and eventually salvage the victory, 72-59.
Southern Nazarene used a 90% (9-10) effort from the charity stripe in the first half to its advantage as they held the lead for the full 20 minutes into the intermission. In the second quarter, Southern Arkansas turned their biggest scoring deficit of 11 points into a 2-point game as they scored the final six points of the half to make it 33-31, SNU.
In the Lady Mulerider's aforementioned comeback effort before the half, they proceeded to make six of its seven free throw attempts at just-under six minutes left to play in the second quarter. Erin Brinkley (3 FTM), Olivia McWilliams (2 FTM) and Kimberly Crown (1 FTM) accounted for all six of those free throws as Crown's eight total points led SAU at the half.
Southern Arkansas continued to put pressure on the Crimson Storm as they banked the first six points out of the half to take the lead from SNU, 37-33, within the first minute of action. In that sequence, Tuana Dinc complemented an offensive rebound with a jumper in the paint to tie the score at 33-all. Sue Key put the Lady Muleriders on top with a pair of good free throws to make it 35-33, and Dinc added two more points after that to open up the lead, 37-33.
With 5:13 to play in the third quarter, SNU went on a 9-0 run to reclaim the lead over Southern Arkansas, 44-41. McWilliams' attempt to keep SAU in the game after that brought the Lady Muleriders within one point, 44-43, at the 2:36 mark, but the Crimson Storm eventually ran away with the contest as they engineered their largest lead of the night (13 points) in the fourth quarter to take the win over SAU, 72-59.

- As a team, SAU shot 80% from the charity stripe (20 FTM -25 FTA) with Crown's nine-total leading the team
- Crown recorded her first double-double of the season as she led the team in rebounds and points made (10 RB | 15 TP)
- Sue Key and McWilliams followed Crown in most points as they registered nine apiece
- Anna Djedjemel and Brinkley each tallied seven points
- As a team, SAU registered six blocks with Dinc and Brinkley at two apiece
