Lady Muleriders suffer 72-42 setback to Southern Nazarene

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Lady Mulerider Women's Basketball team suffered a 72-42 Great American Conference setback to Southern Nazarene inside the W.T. Watson Center on Saturday afternoon in Magnolia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Nazarene started quickly using a 21-5 first quarter to set the tone of the first half.
  • The Crimson Storm led 9-2 through the opening 3:30 of the first quarter, before a Jaida Harden three-pointer pulled SAU to within four points midway through the opening quarter.
  • Harden's trifecta would be the last points for the Lady Muleriders in the first quarter as SAU suffered a 5:23 scoring drought allowing SNU to increase their lead to 16.
  • The closest Southern Arkansas would get to the Crimson Storm in the first half was 11 points at the 4:40 mark of the second quarter on a successful jumper by Jasmyn Eckerman.
  • The Crimson Storm lead grew to as much as 30 in the third quarter and 35 in the final ten minutes.

  • Abby Boyd and Kandyce Freeman scored 16 points apiece for Southern Nazarene and Callee Mason followed with ten points. Boyd led all players with four assists.
  • Danielle Gaddis and Irene Perez recorded 13 and 12 rebounds, respectively.
  • Sidney Carolina grabbed a game-high four steals.
 
OF NOTE
  • Southern Nazarene shot just under 37% from the field, while holding the Lady Muleriders to a shooting clip of just 21.9%.
  • The Crimson Storm outscored SAU in points off of turnovers (20-8), points in the paint (36-16), and second-chance points (22-8).
  • SNU grabbed 61 rebounds, with 21 of those boards coming off of the offensive glass.
