Kimberly Crown logged her third double-double of the season and second in as many games with a career high 20 points and a dozen rebounds and junior guard
Anna Djedjemel dropped a career high 21 points to lead Southern Arkansas on Thursday night inside the Duke Wells Center, but Henderson State outlasted the duo's effort with a pair of 23-point performers in an 81-70 win in Great American Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Henderson State led by seven after the opening quarter courtesy of a 10-4 run in the final three and half minutes of the period.
- The first half lead for HSU blossomed to 14 twice in the second quarter, but Southern Arkansas managed to cut the deficit to 10 before the intermission and trailed 39-29 after the first half.
- The Lady Muleriders surged in the third quarter by using a 16-7 run to open the second half as they pulled to within a point at 46-45 with 5:41 remaining in the quarter behind five points from Djedjemel and four points each from Crown and junior Kemahri Soward.
- Southern Arkansas tied the game for the first time since the 8:31 mark of the first quarter with 3:55 left in the third quarter after Soward converted a vintage three-point play tying the score at 50.
- HSU took a 57-54 lead into the final ten minutes of action. SAU would cut the HSU advantage to 60-58 on a three-pointer from Djedjemel with 7:43 left to play and to 68-64 on a jumper by the junior guard, but Henderson State would double up SAU down the stretch using a 12-6 run to close the door.
FOR SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
- Crown's career high scoring output came on 7-of-12 shooting including 6-of-8 from the free throw line, while matching a career high in rebounds with 12 in 32 minutes of action. Djedjemel was even more impressive from the floor draining 9-of-11 attempts, including a 3-for-5 effort from beyond the arc in 36 minutes of work.
- Sophomore Jasmyn Eckerman followed with nine points and Soward and freshman Jaida Harden scored seven points each. Eckerman led SAU with two assists and Soward paced the club with a pair of steals.
- Soward and freshman Kory Westerman followed Crown by grabbing five rebounds apiece.
FOR THE OPPOSITION
- The aforementioned 23-point performers for Henderson State were produced by Pink Jones and Haleigh Henson and came in different fashion as Jones scored on eight buckets and seven free throws, while Henson coupled a pair of free throws with a game-high seven three-pointers.
- Brittany Branum and Torrie Thompson followed with 11 and 10 points respectively.
- Lexis Weber led Henderson State with eight rebounds and Hailey Estes collected a game-high four assists. Estes joined HSU's top scorers with a pair of steals each.
OF NOTE
- SAU's 70 points are the second most this season behind a 73-point output in an overtime win against Northeastern State on December 19.
- The Lady Muleriders outscored HSU in bench points, 23-9, while six of the Reddies nine bench points came via first half three-pointers.
- Each team scored 34 points in the paint, but the Reddies sank nine three-pointers, seven from Henson, to just four SAU trifectas with three coming from the clip of Djedjemel.
- Henderson State took advantage of 22 Lady Mulerider turnovers to manufacture 25 points, including a 12-2 difference in the second half.
- HSU led for the entirety of the contest as Southern Arkansas tied the game three times: twice in the opening two minutes of the game and once in the third quarter, while cutting the deficit to a single point four times in the third quarter as well.
