SHAWNEE, Okla. – Senior distance runner
Virginia Ney recorded a second-place finish in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:34.39 and three other Lady Muleriders collected top-five finishes during the second day of action at the inaugural Great American Conference Track and Field Championships on Thursday in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Joining Ney with top-five placements were a pair of runners that logged sub-43:00.00 times in the women's 10,000 meter run as sophomores
Destiny McGaffey (43:29.21) and
Ashlynne Foley (43:41.09) placed third and fifth respectively.
Jordan Avance finished in fifth-place in the women's javelin throw with a final distance of 98' 7''. Avance also concluded competition in the women's heptathlon with a seventh place finish that totaled 3,309 points.
Two athletes competed in the women's hammer throw as freshman
Eirca Fuller finished in seventh-place at a final mark of 112' 7'', while classmate
Chioma Akolam placed eighth with a final toss of 65' 3''.
