Leading Off
The Southern Arkansas softball team is back on the road this weekend after sweeping their second Great American Conference series with a 4-0 sweeping of Southwestern
Oklahoma State last weekend in Magnolia. The Lady Muleriders outscored the Bulldogs 28-4, including a pair of run rule victories as they improved to 18-2 overall in 2016.

This weekend, the Lady Muleriders make their longest trip of the season into Alva, Oklahoma, for a four-game Great American Conference set with Northwestern Oklahoma
State (2-18, 1-11 GAC).

Northwestern Oklahoma State enters the series on a five-game losing skid after they were swept last weekend on the road at Arkansas-Monticello. Last year's series,
played in Rockwall, Texas, due to inclement weather around the area, saw Southern Arkansas take three of four games from the Rangers in a high-scoring series, 34-19.

This will be the 13th meeting all-time between the Lady Muleriders and the Rangers with SAU holding a 7-5 advantage in the series that started in earnest back in 2013 when
Northwestern Oklahoma State made the transition into NCAA Division II. Southern Arkansas is 4-4 all-time in Alva, including a 3-1 series win in the first ever series meeting between the two schools in 2013 and a 3-1 series win by the Rangers in 2014.
