The Southern Arkansas baseball team is set to open up their Great American Conference schedule this weekend as they are on the road at Oklahoma Baptist. Oklahoma Baptist are newcomers to the GAC this season as they are currently making the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. As part of their transition, they will not be elgible for post-season play within the GAC or NCAA, but they do count towards conference win-loss records and they are elgible for a regular season conference championship.

This opening conference weekend matchup between SAU and Oklahoma Baptist figures to be a great earlyseason test for both teams as last year, the Bison went 53-8 and advanced to the NAIA World Series; meanwhile the Muleriders went 40-18 and were the regular season champions in the GAC for the third time in the last four years while
also capturing their fifth-consecutive GAC Tournament championship en route to advancing to their eighth-straight NCAA regional tournament.

The three-game series will start with a doubleheader on Friday with a first-pitch time of 1 p.m. and the final game of the set will be played on Saturday with a first-pitch time of 1 p.m. as well.
