BENTONVILLE, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Softball team was previously scheduled to play two games on Saturday and a pair of games on Sunday at the UAM 8-State Classic in Bentonville, but due to frigid morning temperatures and forecasted treacherous winter weather across the central region, the Lady Muleriders' final four games of the Classic have been canceled.
After winning a pair of in-region games in Bentonville on Friday, the Lady Muleriders' first game on Saturday with No. 16 Missouri Western was originally pushed back to 10 a.m., before officials with the MIAA-school elected not to play thus leading to a cancellation. Minnesota State-Mankato was originally scheduled to play Southern Arkansas at noon, but elected not to play as well.
All of Sunday's games were negated before the any pitches were thrown on Saturday morning. The Lady Muleriders will return to action this coming weekend as they are slated to open Great American Conference play in Magnolia, as they welcome in Oklahoma Baptist on February 19 and 20. First-pitch of Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 2 p.m., while Saturday's twin bill is slated for a noon start.
