HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Lady Mulerider Volleyball suffered a 3-1 defeat to William Jewell College (26-28, 25-23, 27-29, 25-15) on Friday afternoon inside Spragins Hall as they concluded play at the season-opening UAH Volleyball Classic in Huntsville, Alabama.
Despite the loss, Southern Arkansas (2-2) was aided by 13 kills from senior middle hitter
Emilie Aase, 11 from senior outside hitter
Shelby Lauterbach and ten kills from sophomore outside hitter

Taylor Reaume logged her fourth-straight 30+ assist game as she finished with 37. Aase posted an attack percentage of .455, while a trio of Lady Muleriders recorded 10+ digs including a team-high 17 from junior defensive specialist
Paige Mays.
After falling in the first set 28-26, SAU bounced back with 17 total kills and held WJC to an attack percentage of .097. The Lady Muleriders trailed 22-21 in the second set but a pair of offensive errors combined with kills from Lauterbach and Aase gave SAU the set and a 1-1 tie in the match.
The Lady Muleriders battled back from a WJC set-point serve in the third set as a service ace from Mays and a kill by junior outside hitter
Brittney Johnson gave SAU a 25-24 lead after trailing by four. William Jewell would overcome the late run and take the third set 29-27 before using that momentum to win the match in a 25-15 set-four win.
The Lady Muleriders return to action on Tuesday, September 8, inside the W.T. Watson Athletic Center for the 2015 home opener against Division 1-Grambling State of the Southwestern Athletic Conference. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
