Mayr breaks school pole vaulting record; places fourth at UCA Open

CONWAY, Ark. – Sophomore pole-vaulter Dakota Mayr was the lone Southern Arkansas athlete to compete at the UCA open on Saturday afternoon in Conway, Arkansas, but the Clifton, Texas native registered an impressive performance as she topped the Lady Mulerider pole vaulting record with a mark of 3.20 meters

The record-breaking mark converts to 10.49 feet which tops Stephanie Barnes' 2003 school record of 8.0 feet.

Mayr will join her teammates for the final scheduled meet of the Track and Field program's 2015 slate at the Leon Johnson Invitational in Natchitoches, Louisiana, on April 25.
