MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas men's basketball made their long-awaited debut inside the W.T. Watson Center on Monday night and they would not disappoint the home faithful as the Muleriders ripped past Williams Baptist en route to 94-68 blowout win in non-conference action.
Four of the Muleriders' (3-2) five starters would score in double-figures on the night with senior guard
Jaron Davis leading the way with a game-high 20 points. Davis would also register his first double-double of the season as he dished out a career-high 13 assists.
Just behind Davis in scoring was fellow senior guard
Deon Andrews as he poured in 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting with all six made field goals coming from beyond the arc. Next was freshman guard
CJ Elkins as he established a new personal-best scoring effort with 16 points. Of those 16 points, six made the highlight reel as Elkins threw down a trio of impressive dunks.
Rounding out double-figure scoring for SAU was
Alvin Braddock as the senior forward scored 15 points. Braddock and Elkins would also tie for the team-lead in rebounds as each came away with nine boards.
Six other Muleriders would find their way into the scoring column as SAU had its highest scoring output of the young season.
The Muleriders will now prepare for another non-conference home game this week as they will play host to Central Baptist College on Saturday, November 28. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 4 p.m. inside the W.T. Watson Center.
