MAGNOLIA, Ark. – With less than three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Southern Arkansas Volleyball team is prepared to travel into Oklahoma for the final time in 2015, as the Lady Muleriders are set for a pair of Great American Conference matches with Southeastern Oklahoma and East Central on October 23 and 24.
The Lady Muleriders (11-12, 3-6 GAC) have remained highly-competitive in Great American Conference play and look stay in the mix in what has turned out to be a tight league race for seeding in the upcoming GAC Volleyball Championships presented by Subway in mid-November in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Pacing the Lady Mulerider offense has been junior
Serena LeDuff who leads the team in kills with 309 and total attacks (869), while swinging at a clip of .230; the fourth-best mark among Lady Muleriders with 80 or more sets played. Senior
Shelby Lauterbach is the lone Lady Mulerider to have played in all 92 sets to date, while placing second on the team in kills (254), followed by sophomore
Alli O'Banion's 210 kills.
Senior setter
Taylor Reaume (918 assists) averages 10+ assists a set; one of only two players in the Great American Conference with an average of 10 or more. Junior
Hannah Rice paces a back line with 497 digs at 5.46 digs per set, while classmate
Paige Mays leads Southern Arkansas with 32 service aces. O'Banion leads a front-line defense with 48 total blocks.
Southern Arkansas is holding opponents to an average hitting percentage of .179; the fourth-best mark in the Great American Conference. The Lady Muleriders, who boast the fourth-best hitting percentage in the league, will matchup with a pair of opponents that allow two of the three highest opponent attacking percentages in the GAC.
First-serve from Durant, Oklahoma, is set for 6 p.m., while Saturday's matchup with East Central is slated for 2 p.m.
