Leading Off
The Southern Arkansas baseball team closes out their 2014 regular season with a pivotal road series at Arkansas-Monticello. With a lot on the line for both teams, the Muleriders have a chance to finish second in the Great American Conference while the Boll Weevils are still vying for the regular season crown. Both teams also find themselves right in the thick of regional tournament discussion as they both opened up in the top-4 of the initial regional rankings released on Wednesday. SAU appeared as the No. 2-ranked team while UAM was the No. 4-ranked team. The top-six teams in the final ranking advance to the regional tournament.

The Muleriders enter play this weekend with a 33-14 overall record and are 17-10 in the GAC. The Boll Weevils enter play with a 31-12 overall record and a 20-7 mark in the GAC.

Statistically, the Muleriders are hitting .303 as a team and have seven starters hitting .300 or better. Jon Phillips currently leads the team in average at .380 (62-for-163). Tyler Cameron leads the team in homeruns with 7. Cameron also leads the team in RBIs with 46. In terms of pitching, SAU has 3.75 team ERA and three of their regular starters have ERAs in the three's. Dylan Lynn leads the staff with nine wins. Janson Carr currently leads the team in ERA with a 1.70 in 10 apperances and six starts. Preston Gray has been the Muleriders' closer and he has 10 saves on the year.

For UAM, they hit .287 as a team and have four starters over .300. Ben Agredano leads the team with a .380 average (65-for- 171). He also leads the team in RBIs with 43. In pitching, UAM has a 3.63 team ERA. Kade Garlington leads the team in wins with nine.
