MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The No. 4-ranked Southern Arkansas baseball team hammered out 21 hits and scored 21 runs in their doubleheader sweep over No. 13 Arkansas Tech on Friday evening at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field.
The opening game on Friday was a 12-2 run-rule-shortened victory for the Muleriders (24-6, 12-5 GAC), who then followed that up with a 9-1 win in the seven-inning nightcap. While the Muleriders' offense was stout in both games, their pitching forced the opposite outcome from the visiting Wonder Boys (19-8, 9-5 GAC) as
Dylan Lynn and
Janson Carr combined to limit Tech to just three runs on 10 hits across both games.
Lynn (5-1) got the start in the opener for the Muleriders and he ended up with his second complete-game victory of the season after working seven complete innings. In his start, Lynn would scatter five hits, allow a pair of runs, walk none, and strikeout eight. Carr (4-1), the Muleriders' starter in game two, would also go the distance as he worked seven innings, scattering five hits, allowing one run, walking none and striking out four.
Offensively, the Muleriders had six players record multiple hits on Friday, with three registering four hits. Freshman left fielder
Trevor Rucker had one of the hottest bats of the day as he was 4-for-6 with a homerun and six RBIs. The homerun was the first in his career.
Tyler Cameron and
Carver Rademacher also had hot bats on Friday as each had four hits. Cameron would score five times across both games and Rademacher notched three RBIs.
The Muleriders and Wonder Boys will conclude their series on Saturday with a single nine-inning game that is now scheduled to begin at Noon. The upped start time in an attempt to beat the rain chances has resulted in "Community Day" at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field to be pushed back one week to Saturday, March 29.
