Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The No. 4-ranked Southern Arkansas baseball team rebounded from a loss in the series-opener on Friday night by taking both ends of Saturday's doubleheader against Ouachita Baptist by scores of 12-3 and 7-0, respectively; giving SAU the series win.

In the opener, the Muleriders (15-4, 6-3 GAC) fell behind 1-0 through two innings as the Tigers (9-9, 4-5 GAC) got a pair of two-out hits in the top of the second inning to plate their first run of the game. In the bottom of the third inning, however, the Muleriders would score three runs to take a 3-1 lead. The big blow in that frame was a two-run homerun by Carver Rademacher.

The Tigers would get one of those runs back in the top of the fourth on a leadoff homerun by Matt Sinclair, making it a 3-2 Mulerider lead. In the bottom of that frame, however, the Muleriders would break the game wide open as they scored five runs on four hits to make it an 8-2 game. In that inning, Justin Buchanan, Tyler Cameron, and Jackson McCurdy would pick up RBIs. Buchanan and McCurdy would each drive in two runs on singles to left field while Cameron collected his RBI on a groundout.

The Muleriders would go on to add four more runs over the four innings as they pushed their run total to 12. Accounting for those runs was a RBI hit-by-pitch to Chase Harvey in the sixth, a solo homerun by Rademacher in the seventh, a RBI double by Harvey and a sacrifice fly by Cameron in the eighth.

All 12 of those runs were in support of SAU starter Timothy Buchanan. Buchanan would pick up his fourth win of the season as he worked eight complete innings, giving up 10 hits, three earned runs, walking none and striking out five.

In the nightcap, three pitchers combined to allow just four hits while striking out eight batters en route to the 7-0 shutout.

Janson Carr started that second game and he would pitch the first five innings, allowing just three hits and striking out four batters before giving way to Blake Sullivan in the sixth. Sullivan would work a perfect sixth inning as he struck out the first two batters he faced and then got a flyout to end the frame. Preston Gray would then pitch the seventh inning, and Gray, like Sullivan, would pick up a pair of strikeouts in his inning of work.

While Carr, Sullivan, and Gray were keeping the Tigers off the scoreboard, the Mulerider offense gave the trio all the run support they needed by scoring four runs in the second inning and adding three more runs in the third.

In the four-run second inning, the Muleriders got a sacrifice fly from Harvey, a two-RBI single by Cameron, and a RBI double by Jon Phillips.

In the three-run third, the Muleriders would get a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch RBI from McCurdy and then a two-RBI double by Harvey.

The Muleriders will now prepare for a mid-week non-conference game against No.13 Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday, March 4. First-pitch for that game is scheduled for  6 p.m.
