Leading Off
The No. 13 Southern Arkansas baseball team got off to a good start on opening weekend as they took three of four from No. 30 Augustana College. In that series, the Mulerider offense started off scorching hot as they hammered out 30 runs on 23 hits over the first two games, both wins. In the final two games, the offense cooled down as they scored three runs on eight hits; winning a 2-1 pitcher's duel, but dropping the finale 5-1.

Individually, Jackson McCurdy had the most impressive oppening weekend offensively as the senior hit for the cycle in the first game and ended the weekend with four extra-base hits and nine RBIs. The steallar weekend for McCurdy netted him GAC and NCBWA Central Region Player of the Week honors. The Muleriders (3-1) will now hit the road for an important early-season test as they take on the No. 4-ranked Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas. The Javelinas (2-0) ended last season 42-18 and played in the
championship game of the South Central Regional. The Javelinas will come in 2-0 after picking up an opening day doubleheader sweep of Houston-Victoria.
