Game NotesRainbolt Era Bringing Culture Change    Since his hire in April of 2013, first-year head coachÂ
Rusty Rainbolt has worked hard to change the culture surrounding the Southern Arkansas women's basketball team. Rainbolt's efforts are beginning to show early returns as fans and players alike are buying into his "family-first" atmosphere.
Evidence of the players buying in is in the fact that 12 players average 9.0 or more minutes of playing time a game.
How's That for an Opener?    Coach
Rusty Rainbolt wanted a challenge to start the season, which is exactly why his team played in the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic in Stephenville, Texas. After falling by one point in overtime with over 2,000 fans in attendance to host Tarleton State, who is receiving votes in the Division II USA Today Coaches Poll, the Lady Muleriders won their first game of the season versus Angelo State the next day.
Full-Court Pressure    Throughout the season, one thing that can be expected from the SAU women's basketball team is that they will play a lot of full-court pressure defense. That up-tempo style of defense has frustrated opposing offenses to commit 51 turnovers. 29 (57%) of those forced turnovers have been a result of a steal by the Lady Muleriders.
Miller Continuing Solid Play    Senior
Chanel Miller, reigning GAC Newcomer of the Year, averaged 12 points and 3.5 rebounds this past weekend at the TexAnn Tip-Off Classic, earning
one of five spots on the All-Tournament Team among the four competing teams.
Scouting the Opponent: SNU    SNU currently sits second in the GAC in scoring offense with 89 points per game, led by senior Aminata Fall, who tops the GAC in scoring (22 points/game), rebounding (14 rebounds/game) and blocked shots (7 blocks/game). Sophomore guard Abby Boyd also cracks the top-10 in scoring among GAC performers with 15.5 points per contest.
The Crimson Storm have proved to be proficient in protecting the rim, averaging a league-leading 62 rebounds and 12.5 blocks per game. SNU can also distribute the ball at an efficient rate, currently sitting second in the GAC in assists per game (19.5) and fourth in turnover margin (+3) and assist-to-turnover
ratio (1.1) in the GAC.
Scouting the Opponent: SOSU    SOSU has found its niche beyond the arc, making a league-high 12.3 trifectas per game at a 40.7 percent (37-91) clip, which is good for third in the GAC. The Savage Storm are led by senior guard Emily Williams (12.7 points per game), but sophomore guard Olivia Potter broke out a 26-point performance, including 8-of-
10 three-pointers, in SOSU's most recent outing versus Arlington Baptist.
