MAGNOLIA, Ark. – In a collaborative effort with Home Sweet Bone, the Southern Arkansas baseball team has announced that it will hold a “Bark at the Park” fundraiser on Saturday, March 9th starting at 2:00 p.m. in order to help raise money for a costly surgery that
Scarlett (shown to the left) needs on her two front legs.
“As a dog lover myself, I found the story about Scarlett heartwarming, and wanted to come up with a way that we could help,” noted head baseball coach
Steve Browning. “In that, we thought what a better way accomplish this than to allow our fans to enjoy a great game of baseball at Walker Stadium with man's best friend.”
As part of this fundraiser, fans will be allowed to bring their pets to the game on Saturday, March 9th against Henderson State, but the price of admission for each pet will be $10, and all pets must be on a leash at all times.
All money from the charged pet admission will be donated to help cover the costs of the surgery which will be performed at
Azzore Veterinary Specialists in Russellville, Ark.
For those that will not be bringing a pet, but do wish to donate money, there will be two ways to do so at the game:
-
There will be a table set up inside the stadium that will collect donations
-
Each time the Muleriders score a run, a bucket will be passed around the stands to collect donations
Fans may also donate before and after the game by calling Home Sweet Bone at (870) 234-3131.
“We hope that the community rallies with us,” concluded Browning “And we are hopeful that with their help, we can secure the money needed to allow Scarlett to have the surgery she needs so that she is able to enjoy the life that she deserves.”
