Alexus Stirgus

Alexis Stirgus enters her second season as the lead assistant coach for the Mulerider women's basketball program. 
 
Stirgus joins the SAU Women’s Basketball staff after serving for two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Mississippi College of the Gulf South Conference. During her time in Clinton, Stirgus assisted with daily practices, pre- and post-season strength and conditioning workouts, on-court coaching and player development among several other duties. The Lady Choctaws won 21 games in her two seasons as a graduate assistant, including a five-win improvement overall and a six-win improvement in GSC play in 2019-20.
 
Prior to joining the MC staff in 2018, Stirgus spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Clinton High School (MS) where she helped the Lady Arrows to playoff berths in two of her three seasons.
 
A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Stirgus’ time in Clinton began several years before her appointment as a graduate assistant as she played for the Lady Choctaws from 2012-14. While at MC, Stirgus averaged 12.2 points 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game as a team captain, while the Lady Choctaws won 23 games over two seasons, including 18 in the GSC. She spent her first two collegiate seasons at Copiah Lincoln Community College where she helped lead CLCC to a MACJC State Title, a regional championship and an NJCAA National Tournament appearance.
 
Stirgus received her Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences from Mississippi College in December of 2014 and she is currently working toward her Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Mississippi College.
