Wyatt Smith

    Assistant Coach / Wide Receivers
Wyatt Smith returns for a second season of coaching the Mulerider’s Wide Receivers, and his third season working with the kicking specialists in Magnolia. During the 2025 season, his first as receivers coach, Smith helped lead a unit of receivers that helped the Blue & Gold finish among the top half of the Great American Conference in Scoring Offense, Total Offense, Passing Offense, Completions, Completion Percentage, 1st Downs and 3rd Down Conversions. His receiver room also consisted of two All-GAC performers  in senior Kendall Williams (3rd Team) and sophomore DeAndre Burns (3rd Team). Smith, who also works with the Mulerider specialists, featured a Harlon Hill Trophy nominee, in unanimous 1st Team All-GAC and D2 Elite 100 selection Jay Todd Baker. 
 
Smith  joined Brad Smiley’s staff in 2024 as a Special Teams Analyst, as well as assisting with the Running Backs and Tight End positions. In his first season he helped a position group that showed to be one of the GAC and nation’s finest with three All-GAC selections on one of the top offenses in NCAA DII. That list included 1st Team selections RB Jariq Scales, RB Kadyn Roach and 2nd Team TE Matt Whitten. The 2024 Mulerider Offense finished first or second in the Great American Conference in twelve different categories and top ten in all of NCAA DII in nine categories. 
Before arriving in Magnolia, Wyatt spent the 2023 season coaching linebackers and special teams at Greenhill School in Dallas, TX. Prior to that in 2022, he moved over to Southwest Christian School, where he served as Assistant Head Coach for Track and Field. His coaching journey began in 2020 at Temple Christian School in Fort Worth, where he coached wide receivers and special teams for two seasons.
A native of Fort Worth, Coach Smith graduated from Calvary Christian Academy, where he played high school football. He went on to attend Tarleton State University, competing on the bass fishing and lacrosse teams, and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in 2021. In the spring of 2026 Smith completed his Masters of Kinesiology in Coaching Philosophy from Southern Arkansas University.
