Mitch Huckabay is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Southern Arkansas baseball team.
Prior to coming to SAU, Huckabay was a four-year college baseball player with stops at Northwestern State University, University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and LSU-Alexandria.
His most-recent playing stop was at LSU-Alexandria for the 2015 season where he capped his career with a bevy of individual awards. Among those awards, Huckabay was named an All-Red River Athletic Conference First-Team Second Baseman as well as being awarded as the conference’s gold glove award winner at second base.
Later, Huckabay would upgrade that gold glove award to the national level as he won the NAIA Rawlings Gold Glove Award at Second Base as he posted a 1.000 fielding percentage for the season. Huckabay was also named to the 2015 All-Louisiana Second-Team by the Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association.
A 2011 high school graduate of Mansfield High, Huckabay earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication in the spring of 2015 from LSU-Alexandria.
