SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (0-1, 0-1 GAC) fell to the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison (1-0, 1-0 GAC) by a final score of 20-38.
The Muleriders got the game started with a bang as
Arkez Gomez went 64-yards to the house to open the scoring putting SAU up 7-0 early. The Bison answered quickly with a score of their own and with 10:38 remaining in the first quarter, the game was tied at 7-7.
Adam Paker put SAU up 14-7 with a one-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter but the Bison responded quickly with a defensive touchdown to tie the game at 14-14. A field goal by the Bison gave them a 17-14 lead but
Arkez Gomez answered the bell again with a one-yard touchdown run putting the Muleriders up 20-17. The Bison answered right back with a score of their own to end the first half as they took a 24-20 lead into halftime.
SAU struggled offensively in the second half as they were unable to score again. Oklahoma Baptist recorded two more touchdowns as they won the game 38-20.
