SEARCY, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (1-2, 1-2 GAC) fell to the number two ranked Harding Bisons (3-0, 3-0 GAC) by a final score of 21-52 tonight in Searcy, Arkansas.
Harding took an early 3-0 lead in the contest after a quick SAU three and out to open the game. Despite the early 3-0 hole, SAU mounted an offensive drive of their own as they found their footing scoring on a pass up the seam to
Jacob Trussell from
Adam Parker for the first passing touchdown of the year for SAU as the Muleriders took a 7-3 lead. After one quarter, SAU led 7-3.
Harding retook the lead in the second quarter, punching it in and bringing the score to 10-7 Bisons. Harding tacked on another touchdown before halftime, as they took a 17-7 lead into the break. The Muleriders continued to fight in the contest, as
Adam Parker punched it in on the ground for his second total touchdown of the night, but the Muleriders trailed 14-31 with 2:22 left in the third quarter.
Southern Arkansas again continued to fight despite the Bisons offense finding their rhythm.
Drew Davis connected with
Jamarion Washington for a 40-yard touchdown to record his first career collegiate passing touchdown. With 4:21 remaining in the contest, SAU trailed 21-52. The Bisons mounted a drive to end the contest without scoring as the game came to a close in Searcy, Arkansas.
