ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Men's Tennis team fell today in their MIAA/GAC conference match against the Ouachita Baptist University Tigers by a final score of 5-2 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas today. The loss to the Tigers marked the first conference loss of the season for SAU.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead after capturing the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead into singles.
Uwe Diehl and
Jonas Sommer fell at line one (3-6).
Frode Neumann and
Lucas Nitzschke fell at line two (4-6).
Balsa Djokovic and
Taiki Minamino fell at line three (1-6).
The teams began singles play with the Muleriders needing a comeback. OBU extended their lead winning at line six as Andreas Siedel fell (0-6, 2-6).
Balsa Djokovic fell at line three (3-6, 0-6) as Ouachita took a 3-0 lead.
Jonas Sommer got the Muleriders on the board winning his match at line five (6-2, 6-2). Ouachita clinched the win as
Uwe Diehl fell at line four in three sets (0-6, 6-4, 2-6).
Frode Neumann picked up a point for the Muleriders at line two winning in three sets (3-6, 6-4, 6-4).
Lucas Nitzschke fell at line one to conclude the match (7-5, 5-7, 2-6).
