SEARCY, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas University Muleriders (20-14, 14-8 GAC) fell to the Harding University Bisons (18-15, 13-9 GAC) by a final score of 8-3 today in game one of their three game series.
The Bisons got the scoring going early in the first inning plating three runs to take an early 3-0 lead. Harding followed by plating three more runs in the bottom of the second inning plating another three runs to take a commanding 6-0 lead as SAU struggled to push anything across in the early going. Another two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for Harding gave the Bisons an 8-0 lead after five complete. Jacob Lang recorded an RBI sacrifice fly to score
Tate Elliott, 8-1. One hitter later,
Ayden Slott reached on a throwing error by the second baseman to score
David Chandler as SAU continued to chip away at the Bisons lead, 8-2.
Luke Noack collected an RBI sacrifice fly of his own one hitter later as
Christian Gutierrez scampered home plating another run, 8-3. The comeback stalled out in the sixth, but SAU was able to cut into the Bisons lead. After six complete innings, Harding led 8-3. Both offenses went cold in the seventh, eighth and ninth inning as the Muleriders fell short in game one of the series.
