Muleriders Locked in for Senior Day Match Against Golden Suns

MAGNOLIA, Ark. — Southern Arkansas Women's Tennis is back in action for one final match in the regular season, as the Muleriders will take on the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns on Tuesday at 3:00 PM. Prior to the match starting, there will be a Senior Day ceremony for Mulerider Women's Tennis' only senior, Taylor Conway

SAU Notables

>>> The Blue and Gold aim to tally their first win in Great American Conference action, as the group currently sits at 0-4 in league play. SAU is in the hunt for a burst of momentum leading up into the Great American Conference Championship Tournament next weekend, May 1 - 3. 

>>> As of now, the Muleriders are on a five-match losing streak, with hopes to break that pattern against the Golden Suns, who sit at 1-3 in GAC play. 

>>> Most recently, Southern Arkansas comes off a loss at Southeastern Oklahoma State, which was the group's final road match during the regular season. While falling 5-2 to the Savage Storm, the unit showed some sparks at lines one and four in singles play. At line one, Jolina Mass handled her foe with a 6-3, 6-2 final, while at line four, Isabella Lazzerini did the very same against her opponent. 

>>> In singles play, SAU is still led by Taylor Conway in terms of wins, as the senior sits at 10-10 on the season, being the lone Mulerider with double-digit wins in singles. For doubles, the Muleriders have been heavily led by Conway's duo with Roksana Kokocha, as the two currently rank 36th in the Division II and are 12-6 for the campaign. 

ATU Notables

>>> Similarly to the Muleriders, Arkansas Tech looks to gain some momentum, as the group sits at 1-3 in league play. The unit's last two matches have been decided by one point, with the Golden Suns defeating Ouachita Baptist 4-3 and then falling to Harding 3-4. 

>>> Ahead of the pack in singles play is Nayara Alvarez, with the junior accounting for a record of 10-4, while being 2-1 in conference action. Two other Suns having sold seasons are Elis Gergel and Lucia Perez, both with 9-4 records. 

>>> With the most wins thus far, Tech is led by the partnership of Natalya Montoya and Lucia Perez, with the duo sitting at 6-6. A pairing that is still undefeated has been Rebecca Arnold and Alvarez, with the two at 4-0.
